Commission Work Programme 2010 : “Time to act”
The European Commission has published its Work Programme for 2010. There are four main strands for action in the work programme: tackling the crisis and sustaining Europe's social market economy; building a citizens' agenda which puts people at the heart of European action; developing an ambitious and coherent external agenda with global outreach; and modernizing EU instruments and ways of working. CEPI welcomes the publication of the new Programme and as always takes a particular interest in any measures which could impact on the property sector.
The Work Programme sets out a list of strategic initiatives on which the Commission commits to deliver in 2010 and major proposals under consideration in 2010 and beyond. Those of particular interest to the property sector include a revision of the Capital Requirements Directive, the relaunch of the Single Market, and a communication on European contract law. They also include a communication on the revised energy efficiency action plan and the Energy Action Plan 2011-2020, a directive on the water efficiency of buildings, measures on responsible lending and borrowing, a communication on best practices in mortgages, and a communication and report on the results of the implementation of the Services Directive and its "mutual evaluation process", which we will all closely follow.
