The EPC is an electronic procedure, currently available on a voluntary basis for five different professions. It is supported by the Internal Market Information (IMI) system and is intended to make the recognition of qualifications easier and quicker. The EPC is available both for the purposes of temporary and occasional provision of services and permanent establishment in another EU Member State. The application is made online to the home Member State of the professional and forwarded electronically to the host Member State. It results in an electronic certificate, rather than an actual plastic card.
