Bulgaria Takes Over the Presidency of the Council of the EU


With the start of the new year Bulgaria has taken over the rotating six month presidency of the Council of the EU, from 1st January 2018 to 30th June 2018, from the previous holder Estonia.
The Bulgarian presidency will focus on four key areas: future of Europe and young people, Western Balkans, security and stability and digital economy. It will be working to make progress on the legislative initiatives contained in the Services Package and to reach balanced compromise proposals in order to find agreement on the proposals contained in the Clean Energy for all Europeans Package including the revisions of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and Energy Efficiency Directive.
