On October 6th, the Secretariat attended the web-based event “European Forum on Science & Education for Sustainability. From Ambition to Actions - Together for an Innovative and Sustainable Europe”, promoted by the EU Council German Presidency and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The online event was attended by +1000 participants from 50 countries, and topics discussed will be taken into account for a follow-up at the 2nd “Coimbra Sustainability Summit", which will take place during the Portuguese EU Council Presidency in May 2021, always in the framework of the European Green Deal and the important topic of Digital Transformation.
The all-day event was organized in an opening conference session, which then split into four different workshops: 1) Making Europe Climate Neutral, 2) Reversing Inequalities, 3) Moving Education Towards Sustainability, 4) Strengthening Circular Economy for Sustainable Development Goals.
Amongst others, speakers of the conference enlisted: Ms Anja Karliczek, German Federal Minister of Education and Research; Mr Rasmus Erboe, Ørsted - Senior Vice President, Head of Region Continental Europe, Ms Connie Hedegaard, Chair of the European Climate Foundation; Ms Sarah Wiener, Member of the European Parliament for Austria, Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance; Mr Jean-Eric Paquet, Director-General of DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission, and Mr Volker Reike, Research for Basic Principles and Sustainable Development" at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
