The New Leipzig Charter, adopted at the Informal Ministerial Meeting on Urban Matters on 30 November 2020, with its set of strategic principles of good urban governance, provides a framework guiding post-2020 urban policy coordination in Europe. This framework reaffirms the objectives and achievements of the Pact of Amsterdam, thus linking the Urban Agenda for the EU’s working method to the New Leipzig Charter’s strategic principles. During the event, moderated by Jan Olbrycht (President of the Urban Intergroup) and Fabienne Keller (Vice-President of the Urban Intergroup), all the participants were able to discuss the future of the Charter and its implementation with Tilman Buchholz, German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community. The Leipzig Charter, as well as the Urban Agenda, constitutes a fundamental instrument towards more coherent and urban-friendly policies at the EU level.
