European Semester Conference, The Recovery and Resilience Plan: synergies between the European Green Deal and the path towards building a more resilient European Health Union - online event

On the 22nd of February 2021, the CEPI Secretariat joined the European Semester Conference, co-organised by the European Parliament and the Portuguese Assembleia da República.

The panel on the Recovery and Resilience Plan focused specifically on synergies of the European Green Deal compared to a more resilient Health Union. The event was co-chaired by MEP Mr Pascal Canfin, Chair of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety of the European Parliament (ENVI), and MEP Mr Luís Graça, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Environment, Energy and Territorial Planning of the Portuguese Assembleia da República. Shortly after the opening, the word was given to Executive Vice President Frans Timmermans of the European Commission responsible for the portfolio of the European Green Deal, followed by Laurence Boone, Chief Economist at the OECD and G20 Finance Deputy. After this several Members of Parliament could state their opinion on the matter and a question round took place.

During the panel discussion, different perspectives on the European economic governance in relation to the objectives to be achieved under the EU Green Deal and the difficulties arising from the Covid-19 outbreak were explored.

The event was part of the European Parliamentary Week 2021 - European Semester Conference, the Inter-parliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the EU. For more information and to consult the recording of the event, please visit European Semester Conference - ICM - The Recovery and Resilience Plan: synergies between the European Green Deal and the path towards building a more resilient European Health Union.
