The twin transition: how can green growth and digital transformation go hand in hand to drive Europe's recovery? - online event

On June 15, the Secretariat of CEPI attended the online event "The twin transition: how can green growth and digital transformation go hand in hand to drive Europe's recovery?", organised by Euractiv.

Panellists of the event discussed the relationship existing between the digitalisation process (especially after the outbreak of Covid-19) and green growth. New green technologies are already here to help European countries tackle the biggest challenge of our time: climate change. The European Commission has long promoted digital transformation to enhance economic competitiveness, while also recognising that digitisation can contribute to sustainability goals and enable the changes needed for a just green transition. The Commission’s twin green and digital goals are seen to complement each other well, a concept that is also reinforced in the New Industrial Strategy for Europe.

Speakers of the event included: Mr João Galamba, Deputy Minister and Secretary of State for Energy of Portugal; Mr Casper Klynge, Vice President for European Government Affairs of Microsoft; Mr Ilias Iakovidis, Adviser, Societal Challenges, Green and Digital Transition from DG Connect (European Commission); Ms MEP Alexandra Geese, member of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) Committee of the European Parliament; and Ms Véronique Willems, Secretary General of SMEunited.
