European Commission Work Programme 2022 – Making Europe Stronger Together

On October 19, the European Commission (EC) adopted its 2022 Work Programme.
In this important document, the EC sets its agenda towards a greener, fairer and more digital and resilient Europe after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following the State of the Union 2021 and the priorities expressed by EC President Ms Ursula von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines, the EC 2022 Work Programme contains forty-two new policy initiatives, putting an accent on the European Year of Youth 2022, and considering important lessons learnt after the Covid-19 global pandemic.

The abovementioned six headline ambitions, by way of reminder, are:

    • A European Green Deal
    • A Europe fit for the digital age
    • An economy that works for people
    • A stronger Europe in the world
    • Promoting our European way of life
    • A New push for European democracy

As a first next step, the EC will start discussing with its co-legislators, the European Parliament (EP) and the Council a set of joint priorities and ensure swift actions and follow up.
