On January 7, the Secretariat of CEPI participated in the online public hearing “Fit for 55: delivering the EU's 2030 Climate Target on the way to climate neutrality”, organized by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).
The aim of the hearing was to gather opinions of various stakeholders on inter-connected proposals under the package of Fit for 55, which will feed into the EESC’s opinion on this legislative package. These proposals aim at reaching the EU's ambitious target of a 55% reduction in greenhouse gases by 2030. The package strengthens eight existing pieces of legislation and presents five new initiatives, across a range of policy areas and economic sectors including climate, energy and fuels, transport, buildings, land use and forestry.
During the hearing, the Committee gathered the views of speakers and participants from organized civil society, business associations, as well as EU institutions.
