European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles for the Digital Decade

On January 26, the European Commission put forward the European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles for the Digital Decade, for the European Parliament (EP) and Council to sign up.

The Declaration intends to clarify the principles and rights for the digital transformation that the Union intends to represent and fight for. These include putting people and their rights at the center, solidarity and inclusion, freedom of choice online, more participation in the digital public space and the empowerment of individuals, among others. The Declaration hence intends to be a guide for policy-makers, as well as for businesses and people.

The draft text should be discussed and endorsed by the EP and the Council by this summer.
