Shaping the decade of building renovations- Webinar

On January 28, the Secretariat of CEPI attended the webinar “Shaping the decade of building renovations”, organised by the European Alliance to Save Energy (EU ASE).

EU-ASE hosted an online workshop on the topic of the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which was presented by the European Commission in December 2021. The recast of the EPBD is the last piece of the legislative package ‘Fit for 55’ which aims to put the Union on track towards climate neutrality. Since 75% of buildings in the European Union are not energy efficient yet, more actions are needed to trigger a renovation wave for the EU building stock to be energy efficient.

During the webinar, various speakers presented their views on the matter, namely: Prof. Dr. Diana Urge Vorsatz, Vice Chair of WG III of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Central European University; Ms Mechthild Wörsdörfer, Deputy Director-General the Directorate General on Energy of the European Commission (DG Energy); Mr Sean Kelly, Member of the European Parliament from the European People's Party; Ms Iskra Mihaylova, Member of the European Parliament from Renew Europe Group; Mr Antoine Caron, Deputy Head of Department, Department for quality and sustainable development in construction, Directorate for Housing, Urban Planning and Landscapes, French Ministry for Ecological Transition.
