Digital Markets Act (DMA). What balance will achieve certainty for all stakeholders? – online event


On the 2nd of February 2022, the Secretariat of CEPI attended the virtual conference, ''An effective Digital Markets Act - What balance will achieve certainty for all stakeholders?'' organised by EURACTIV.

The event focused on the DMA and its regulatory framework. The participants highlighted that the Act should promote innovation and clarify rules for gatekeepers for them to comply with the obligations set in the Act and hence achieve the desired level playing field for new stakeholders that access the market. A discussion took place about the definition of gatekeepers and whether they will be able to implement the rules set by 2023,when the DMA should enter into force.

Speakers included: Mr Andreas Schwab, Member of the European Parliament and IMCO Rapporteur for the DMA; Mr Mathieu Weill, Head of the Digital Economy Department of the French Ministry of Economy; Ms Cristina Caffarra, Senior Consultant at Charles River Associates; Mr Alexandre de Streel, Academic Director, Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE).
