Joint European Parliament ITRE-CULT public hearing on the New European Bauhaus initiative - online session

On Wednesday, April 20, the Secretariat of CEPI attended the joint Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) public hearing on the New European Bauhaus initiative.

During the online discussion the two co-rapporteurs, MEP Mr Christian Ehler from ITRE and MEP Mr Marcos Ros Sempere from CULT, presented the draft own-initiative report on the New European Bauhaus Initiative. The New Bauhaus is a creative and interdisciplinary initiative that connects the European Green Deal with our daily lives to find tangible, sustainable, beautiful and inclusive solutions to improve the European citizens’ daily lives.  

The hearing was be opened by a video message from the Commission President, Ms Ursula von der Leyen. Further, the debate was enriched by the participation of experts from various sectors, namely Ms Jutta Emes, Vice President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar; Ms Julije Domac, Managing Director of the North-west Croatia Regional Energy Agency; Mr Paolo Subissati, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, SUBISSATI SRL; Mr Iñaqui Carnicero, Director-General for the Urban Agenda and Architecture from the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.  
During the discussion, ITRE and CULT Members, as well as members of Committee on Regional Development (REGI) and members of the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL) stressed the importance of a unified approach when carrying out the initiative. The need for a multidisciplinary approach, a focus on sustainability, safety and respect for social diversity and inclusion were also discussed.
