CEPI joins the BUILD UP initiative

The issue of energy has become increasingly important in the modern era due to high energy costs and scarcity of natural resources. New legislations impact also on the daily working life of property professionals. Of all the current energy policies the one of most obvious interest to them is that concerning energy efficiency, because buildings offer a huge potential for savings. It is fundamental to make this issue a priority and exchange information and best practices among key stakeholders, professionals and decision makers throughout the EU. With this in mind CEPI just joined the BUILD UP initiative as a partner, following an invitation from the European Commission. Launched in June 2009, the project was described by Andris Piebalgs, former European Energy Commissioner, as “a new environment for building professionals, local authorities and building occupants willing to share their experience on how to cut energy consumption in buildings”.

The key aim of this European initiative is to reduce the energy consumption of buildings across Europe by transferring best practices to the market and fostering their uptake. It wants to catalyse and release Europe’s collective intelligence for an effective implementation of energy-saving measures in buildings.

The portal also provides an opportunity to meet and interact with other key stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency of buildings, and gives an access to the latest news and events in the field, as well as resources, guidelines, tools and case histories.
