New chairman for our Irish member association IPFMA

Property management professional Sean Aylward has been elected the new chairman of the IPFMA (Irish Property & Facility Management Association), one of CEPI’s Irish member associations. The IPFMA, formed in 1989 under the auspices of the Society of Chartered Surveyors, has over 530 members countrywide. It represents the growing property, asset and facility management profession in Ireland.

A Chartered Surveyor, Sean Aylward is Centre Manager of a shopping centre in Dublin. A Fellow of the IPFMA and the Republic of Ireland representative on the BCSC, Sean Aylward has over 40 years’ experience in property management. He worked for many years with Irish Estates, before joining Nutgrove Shopping Centre in 2000. A qualified chartered surveyor, he also holds a diploma in Shopping Centre Management. With a strong belief in adult education and lifelong learning, Mr. Aylward is an active supporter of the Skillnet courses run over the past two years by the IPFMA.

In his inaugural address, Sean Aylward underlined the key areas in which he plans to be actively involved during his term of office: he expressed concerns concerning the introduction of water rates in Ireland and on the proposed new database for commercial lease terms, while welcoming the new residential property sales database. He also stated that he will closely follow and participate in the debates around the proposed new Landlord and Tenant Bill.

Mr. Aylward has been elected for a one-year term and takes over from outgoing chairman Paul Whelan, whom we wish to thank again for his commitment to the CEPI family.
