European Vocational Skills Week- online event

On 16 May, the Secretariat of CEPI attended the European Vocational Skills Week, an online event organized by the European Commission.

European Vocational skills week is an annual event celebrating all the best practices in Vocational Education and Training (VET), including events representing local, regional and national organisations  and other VET partners. This year the Vocational Skills week focused on VET in relation to the Green Transition. The theme was chosen with respect to the European Commission’s commitment to take all the necessary steps to become carbon neutral by 2050, known as the European Green Deal. This initiative also includes the need to equip people with the appropriate skills for the transition.

The event consisted of several webinars not only on EU level, but also on national, regional and local level. The European Commission conference was held with the aim to explore major policy updates and delve into various relevant topics for the VET Week 2022.

During the presentations we had a chance to hear from a number of speakers, such as: Commissioner Mr. Nicolas Schmit; Petr Gazdik, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic; Ben Butters, CEO Eurochambers; Claire Challande-Osuna, Head of international department, SEPR MOSAIC - Mastering job-Oriented Skills in Arts & crafts; Valentina Guerra, Policy Advisor for Social Affairs and Training at SMEunited; Barry Madigan, Trainer in BIMzeED Erasmus+ project; Dragoș Pîslaru, Chair of the EMPL Committee of the European Parliament; Agnes Roman, Senior Policy Coordinator on education policy issues at the European Trade Union Committee of Education (ETUCE); Georgios Zisimos, Head of Policy Advice and EU Progamming at the European Training Foundation.
